Planar‐biaxial low‐cycle fatigue behavior of the nickel‐base alloy Inconel 718 at elevated temperatures under selected loading conditions

چکیده

Abstract The isothermal planar‐biaxial fatigue behavior was studied for two different disk batches of nickel‐base superalloy Inconel 718 using cruciform specimens at 400°C and 630°C under equi‐biaxial shear loading. Additionally, non‐proportional tests were performed. test results compared with uniaxial reference the von Mises equivalent strain hypothesis, a parameter critical plane, modified crack‐opening‐displacement range approach. crack initiation mechanism analyzed. Using approach, low‐cycle lifetimes proportional (i.e., up to 40,000 cycles) described within scatter band two. Thus, it better than or parameter. took place oxidized primary carbides surface. paths presented.

THE DEFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF AZ31 MAGNESIUM ALLOY AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

AZ31 magnesium alloy is considered as a promising alloy in various applications and industries. Furthermore, to design a proper hot working process (rolling, forging and extrusion), the assessment of hot working behaviour of the alloy is necessary. Accordingly, the hot deformation behaviour of AZ31 alloy was studied through hot compression testing method This was carried out in a wide range of ...

Linkage between Ductile Fracture and Extremely Low Cycle Fatigue of Inconel 718 under Multiaxial Loading Conditions

Ductile fracture and extremely low cycle fatigue (ELCF) [1] are two common failure modes in aircraft engines and turbomachinery designs [2]; however, the linkage between these two failure modes under multi-axial loading conditions has never been systematically studied. Inconel 718 (IN718) is one type of high temperature alloys widely used in turbomachines. Specially designed specimens and tests...

Modelling of fatigue crack propagation in Inconel 718 under hold time conditions

In this thesis an investigation and modelling of the fatigue crack propagation in the nickel based superalloy Inconel 718, with a special emphasis on the effect of hold times, is presented. The modelling work has been concentrated on describing the hold time fatigue crack propagation by using the concept of a damaged zone in front of the crack tip, which is believed to have a lowered resistance...

Crack closure under high load-ratio conditions for Inconel-718 near threshold behavior

Fatigue-crack-growth (FCG) rate tests were conducted on compact specimens made of an Inconel-718 alloy to study the behavior over a wide range in load ratios (0.1 6 R 6 0.95) and a constant Kmax test condition. Previous research had indicated that high R (>0.7) and constant Kmax test conditions near threshold conditions were suspected to be crack-closure-free and that any differences were attri...
